The week before Christmas was a sweet week! First of all, Amanda came to town! Just in time to celebrate her birthday. Chef Andrew mixed the cake and Creative Design Specialist, Alora dictated proper icing placement while Decorator-In-Training Brooke carried out the cake plan. One of the things that Amanda specifically requested was carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The other was a steak dinner made by grilling guru, Joey. We had a fabulous dinner and dessert.

As soon as dinner was over, it was time for some sweet entertainment, because what is a birthday without proper entertainment. I am opposed to clowns all together and so for Amanda's birthday enjoyment we headed to Huntsville in the rain to see Galaxy of Lights at the Botanical Gardens. It was a nasty night to be traveling but what we discovered was that it is the perfect night to see the lights. No one was there and so we had the whole place to ourselves. Sweet!

On the Saturday before Christmas I had a Sweet Swap at my house. Everyone dressed in Christmas attire and brought a sweet to swap. There were so many goodies. It was so awesome--so awesome that I totally forgot to take any pictures, so you will just have to trust me that it was a fabulous display of sweet treats! The sweet I decided to make was petit fours mainly because I love them but also because I found a sweet recipe in a cooking magazine. What I found out is that petit fours are not for amateurs!!! They are for pros and I am not one. In fact, I kindof hate petit fours now. They were a disaster from beginning to end and I finally resorted to making peanut butter balls, something I do know how to make. I know that petit means "small" and four, well the number "four", and that is about what my recipe yeilded--Four Small Cakes that half way resembled a nice treat-- the rest were a ghastly mess!

Because I forgot to take pictures of the actual Sweet Swap, I took these picture the next day at church. These are some of the ladies who came. Aren't they so sweet? We had a great time sharing Christmas memories, stories, traditions and ideas. It was so awesome to spend time with old friends and new ones. I am so thankful for each one of the girls who came. They mean so much to me and I count it a privilege to call them friends--I love you, ladies!
Saturday night was game night with friends: Jason, Traci and Amanda! After counting dominoes only to find that we were missing some, we decided on playing CLUE! By the way, it was Pastor Joey, in the kitchen, with a palm pilot. Traci, had it all figured out!On Sunday, we were headed to the nursing home for Christmas caroling. We sang for the residents, took small gifts and played bingo. We had a great time spreading some Christmas cheer. Thank you, Traci for being a sweet leader and challenging the kids to share the love of Christ in this way!
