An Evaluation of Joey at 35

Joey turned 35 on Saturday! This is the day we celebrate the life of Joey Thompson. He gets to eat off the sacred plate, feel the love and get his way for one day. Right? Well, this day ended up being much like many other Saturdays in our life--lawn care day! Our mower has been broken--again, but he found the problem and was forced to mow due to the mounding grass in the backyard. We did have some time to unwind though. But before we get to that I feel as though I need to evaluate my man at this point in his life.
Evaluation Point #1-At 35, he eats better than he ever has, drinks lots of water and exercises regularly (at least when his schedule allows and when he has not been up all night fighting insomnia). Would you believe he gave up his 2 o'clock Dr. Pepper a looong time ago and has reduced his caffeine intake to coffee in the morning with an occasional, and I mean occasional, DP?

Evaluation Point #2-He is a great griller at 35. In fact, he is so good at what he does we felt that it would be a great way to celebrate his birthday--he grills us great food! Actually, I tried to take him out but, at 35, he is much more of a home body and chose to grill us hamburgers. The truth is, that you just can't get a better burger at a restaurant; my man has mastered the coals.

Evaluation Point #3-At 35 he takes the fashion advice of his wife and lets his hair go curly! I feel that this is a plus. He still cringes when I say things like, "It just needs a little 'product' to accentuate the curls." but I feel that we have come a long way.
Side note-The weather was so perfect on Saturday that we enjoyed our food outside. The sun was shining and we had a gentle breeze. It was a picture perfect afternoon. Also, you can notice in the background the mounds of mulch I moved in to piles after Joey mowed. Believe me when I tell you that the piles you see are not the half of it!
Evaluation Points # 5 thru #16-At 35, he is a great dad and a great husband and I am so thankful for everything that he does for us. He is loving, patient, funny, smart, thoughtful and hardworking. He loves the Lord and loves the Word and loves the church and loves his family! Joey, I am so glad that we were able to celebrate you on Saturday, God has blessed with much. I love you--Happy Birthday!

Sidenote #2 + Evaluation Point #17-Joey took the picture of my burger as we sat down to dinner. At 35, he is a little boastful about his grilling creations and about his photography and feels that my burger needs to be on a commercial. I would have to agree! And it tasted as good as it looks!
