Christmas at Meemaw and Poppie's House

On Monday we gathered at the Thompson house for some Christmas Family Celebration--Homemade style. We draw names every year and make the presents, giving that personal touch and homemade flair. Some of us, however, bend the rules a bit--like Eryne and Josh! This year Meemaw and Poppie opened the first gift--It was a tiny baby shirt, obviously not homemade. But the gift--a baby in 9 months--definitely homemade!

That's right, Eryne and Josh are going to have a baby, making Meemaw and Poppe great grandparents and Kenny and Angie grandparents. Wait....that makes me a GREAT AUNT! Wow, that feels old! Congratulations everybody! We are thrilled!

Alyssa and Abby and Meemaw were quite busy this season with painting beautiful pictures for presents. Angie's masterpiece painted by Meemaw.

My masterpiece painted by Abby. Gorgeous!

And Tammy's masterpiece painted by Alyssa. Girls--you outdid yourself!

I have to say, Meemaw racked up this year! A great grand baby and this beautiful quilt--made by her mom. This is a very cool story but David and Tammy did some work for a sweet lady who, in turn, gave them a quilt from David's grandmother, made a long time ago when they used to quilt together. Tammy knew this was going to be a special present for Meemaw and it was. When she opened it someone asked, "Who made it?" She honestly didn't know. And when Tammy told her that it was her mom, the tears rolled. What a special gift!

The kids did their own Christmas shopping this year and I was so proud of them for the thoughtfulness and consideration they used in picking each gift. For Meemaw, they picked a puzzle with butterflies because she loves both of them.

And for Poppie they picked a wallet. Great job kiddos!

It was a great day to spend together as a family. We are so blessed and thankful to God for all that He has done in and through us this year.
