Friday was a pretty busy day. We tried Andrew's tux on him Thursday night only to discover that the pants were too short. It looked quite humerous and he and I laughed til our sides hurt. So, Friday began with a trip to Birmingham to return the tux. One catch, after having him put the tux on at the store, I was informed that the length was perfect. WHAT?!? I wasnt going to argue with the owner of a store who had been in the business for over 20 years so we headed back home with the same tux. 3 hrs!!! round trip to meet the owner of the tux store. I did get a new plastic bag to cover the tux!
Ah, well, my momma always says, "Don't sweat the small stuff."
In the grand scheme of life, 3hrs and a tank of gas is small stuff.
I put the finishing touches on the cakes and then began to get the family ready for rehearsal dinner. We were right on time. After dropping off the cake and meeting the very nice ladies who were behind the scenes decorating, I breathed a sigh of relief. Whew! Cakes delivered! Now to see some family. Papa Bud came to town and it was so good to see and spend some time with him.
Check out these fine looking men! Grandfather of the Groom, Best Man and Father of the Groom, and Groomsmen- Uncle of the Groom and Brother-in-Law of the Groom. It was a family affair.
Uncle Gene also came for a visit and it is always good to see him. Papa Bud and Uncle Gene kicked back together during rehearsal.
Check out these decorations. The pictures do not even begin to describe the beauty of it all. Dad and David spray painted the trees, fresh out of Bibi's backyard and then built stands for them and got them into place. The ladies at the church took over from there adding the trees for the backdrop and the snow. To finish it off there was tinsel hanging from the limbs giving it such a magical Narnia feel. It was truly FABULOUS!
My kids were awesome. Alora was so grown up and enjoyed her role as junior bridesmaid. She made new friends among the bridesmaids and listened carefully to each instruction so that she would get it done perfectly.
Andrew was also handling his role as junior groomsman with pride and maturity. He made new friends and spent much time telling stories and talking robotics.
It was a wonderful night to celebrate with David and Nicole. Mom, Alora and I stopped to take this picture. Looking back at it, you can really tell who Alora looks more like. She looks like her Mimi more than she looks like me!
After rehearsal it was off to go get Amanda from the airport then off to Pell City for some quick sleep before awaking early to go get our hair and makeup done on Saturday morning. It was a whirl wind but so much fun.
Stay tuned for Part Three-Hairspray and Lip Gloss!
