Our last day of coop we received these two little guys- caterpillars! They came in their own little containers with food provided.
It would be our job to care for them so that they could become beautiful Painted Lady butterflies.
After a few days, they began to get into position for some chrysalis action.
One hung from the roof of the container and the other just laid down on the floor and made his chrysalis (I guess he was too lazy to suspend himself upside down like all the other caterpillars). I actually thought he was dead but the directions assured me that sometimes a lazy one comes along and just lays down to transform.

After three days of hardening in their protective shell, we moved them to a habitat that will allow them to come out and dry their wings.

Now we wait. and wait. and wait. We are actually spraying them with water, adding moisture so that they will be healthy adult butterflies when they BURST forth.
