The Robot Competition Results

Thursday was competition day at Robotics Camp and Andrew was so excited. There were three divisions of competiton for the day-sumo, speed, and obstacle course.

It was so fun watching these kids ranging in age from 10-17 compete against one another. It is quite intense!

One team would go against another in the sumo competition, advancing or moving to the losers bracket. The sumo is a muscle match. Whose car can push the other out of the circle? I am not even gonna lie-Andrew's team had the coolest car! It was complete with a muscle design and and arm that would flip out and plant the car in the middle of the circle holding its position- A brake! Seriously, Andrew! Awesome! They lost but only because they ran the wrong program in crunch time.

The speed competition began and the vehicles lined up. I was ready to get the picture when the race began but Alpha's (Andrew's team) car took off and left everyone in the dust. I missed the finish all together! Way to Go, Alpha!

There's the little speed demon!

Joey took off work early to make it to the competition. Andrew and Daddy did some major robotic bonding! Daddy was so proud!

Also at camp, Andrew made a new friend. This kid is wired just like Andrew and they had a fabulous time building, designing, and programming. At the end of the day they exchanged email in an effort to keep in touch.

This was a great experience for Andrew and he has been building robotic vehicles, dogs, automatic nerf gun shooters, etc. ever since. His mind is a whirlwind with ideas as of late. I am thankful for these kind of opportunities for kids.
Way to go, Andrew!
