I love these trips with my mom because we get to spend some quality time just being girls.

Before Mom got out of her conference, I spent the day with my friend, Karen (remember the Golden Gate Bridge?), and her kiddos who traveled with her this time. Last trip, we ran across the Golden Gate Bridge and then got lost in the city. This time we hiked over precarious rocks to a lighthouse overlooking the bay, and had her van with GPS!
We were all set.

Check out the spaces between those rocks! Her kids were like little gazelles gracefully leaping from one rock to the next while Karen and I took a more cautios approach.

We had a long way to go but it was worth it.

That night we met Mom and Gary and Karens' husband Tim for some good eats on the dock. I ate pinkie crab avocado wraps with a side of clam chowder! The food in Maine was delicious.

After dinner we walked along the dock taking in the sites and found this chunk of the Berlin Wall. After a short history lesson, cuz I am a teacher like that, we posed with the wall. If you look closely there is an arm, belonging to Thomas, reaching through the crack in the middle. He was really getting into his role of "captive in need of freedom"
.

On the way back to the hotel that night, we came across the largest jawbreaker I have ever seen. UH-MAZING! Can you imagine how long it would take to get to the bottom of that?
Great day taking in the sites and sounds and smells and tastes of Portland.
