Last Friday, we took a field trip with our co op. Lawrenceburg, TN, to Amish Country, is where we went. Very interesting. I do not have any pictures except these two that I took before we went on the tour, due to the fact that the Amish do not like their pictures taken. We were able to go to three houses and see how they live. No electricity, no running water and one room schoolhouses, just for starters. My kids thought it sounded like a cool thing until I told them that meant no electronics. Andrew shivered at the thought!

It was a beautiful fall day and we enjoyed being outdoors. We bought fried apple pie and sampled ginger cookies. We were able to see a family making molasses, and many Amish hard at work driving their horse drawn buggies and tending their farms. There is much to be said about their work ethic. We enjoyed spending time with friends from co op but rushed home to vist with the Wheelers one last time before they headed back to Texas. I really wanted to buy a pumpkin while we were in Amish Country but I am so not familiar with the buying things straight from people's homes and I freaked myself out. We did see an Amish man driving a wagon filled with pumpkins, big beautiful pumpkins, but i just wasn't sure if you just drive up next to him and say, "Hey, can I buy a pumpkin?"
So... I left without one. Ah well, maybe next time.
