Our first week of homeschooling was awesome!

We began schooling our kids at home on August 11th. After teaching in a private school for the past three years and having our children both in private and public school during the last six years, we were not sure exactly what to expect. Many questions went through my mind. What will they do for socialization? What if I can't handle it? What if the kids hate it? What if this scars them for the rest of their lives? What if we can't make it financially (after losing my income)? How in the world am I going to teach two grade levels at once? What if I forget to teach some vitally important concept that will leave a gaping hole in their education that mentally disqualifies them from every job on the planet? What if Joey quits doing housework after so much training? The questions were endless. The answers bountiful. "Train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6. "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5 "In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9. God has put my mind at ease. That does not mean my flesh won't lash out on any given day or fear of failure grip my heart but He will make my paths straight. He is good. He is faithful. He is Lord of our home school!

Andrew is enjoying his new math curriculum. Math U See is great for him because he loves the: see it, build it, say it model for learning. He watches a dvd, uses a dry erase board and marker and then builds using blocks to further understand and then puts it to practice on a worksheet. This works great for my multi-sensory man!

Andrew and Joey are enjoying some time together during their favorite subject computer.

Alora and I baked a big lunch to celebrate our first week of schooling at home.

Alora loves to draw and color. She is designing the cover for her astronomy binder.

During each day we have some subjects that we learn together. Andrew and Alora have Bible, History, Science and Art together. Andrew loves to help his sister, this can be good and bad.

Awesome! I'm excited about being able to observe your classroom as you, your students, and your assistant teacher (Joey)progress. I'm so glad you're taking this challenge! Trust Him!! I look forward to "visiting" your classroom via your blog. I admire you for your courage and faith! Love you!

Great stuff. Remember these days on the days that you wish you'd never started.

It's great to see some of the people that I respect the most take this step. Education is a big joke in this country and it's time parents, especially Christian ones, took it back. I am greatly excited about [watching] all this and I wanna come to your school too! I've got my astronomy binder all ready to go...
