Look What I Did With a Leaf!

This is a great book for inexpensive fall art! Who says school has to take place in a typical traditional classroom? Not me, as of late! Last week I was antsy and so I packed up the children, lunches and school books and we headed for a beautful day in nature's classroom. The state park fifteen minutes down the road served us well. We explored the park, collected leaves, read, and tackled a few subjects before enjoying a picnic lunch at a table right on the lake. We headed home and then used this book to put together a project that was truly creative, inexpensive, educational and fun. Leaf Art! Andrew made an incredible lion (using no template, of course) and Alora and I made butterflies. My creature actually turned out to be a butterfly, dragon fly, sci-fly mix! Alora's butterfly was beautiful. We are enjoying this weather and time spent in nature's classroom. Homeschooling is such a blast!

You can bring me little Hannah anyday! Speaking of which, any trips to Alabama on the horizon in which you will be squeezing your friends Brooke and Joey in?

Marie, you can do the leaf creatures without the book. The book is cute for examples but by no means do you have to have it. Andrew made up his own.
