Pedals and Paint

We had totally planned to have a relaxing day at home doing nothing. It had been a somewhat stressful week and the thought of coming up with a weekend plan was a daunting task. However, being as off the cuff and on the fly as I am, after stepping outside to be greeted by 71 degrees and an overcast sky I jumped into my superhero suit- and instantly became Spontaneous Trip Woman. In a matter of minutes I rallied the troops to the living room and dished out the orders: Pack the Bikes, Pack a lunch, Get on your tennis shoes, and Head to the Driveway. We were on our way to "Rails to Trails". I have to admit with the Auburn game on the horizon I didn't think I would motivate my man out the door. God bless Tivo--with a first sigh of, I am not a spontaneous man but I love this woman, he jumped into action (as much as Joey jumps into action). We were out the door in about twenty minutes. Rails to Trails is an eight mile biking, horseback riding trail that leads through the woods near our home town. It was simply awesome. We actually biked about 3.5 miles of it and had a picnic at the covered bridge. We all had a blast enjoying the great outdoors.

On our way home from the biking extravaganza, Andrew, after hearing the advertisement on a local radio station, asked if we could go to a local art event that occurs on the square in our home town. We were in the spontaneous groove so why not! The kids painted, created cardboard creatures and made pottery. After about an hour and a half we were home to watch our beloved football team beat Southern Miss. War Eagle!! Did I mention I had a surge of energy in the evening and took off for a neighborhood run! I guess all the excitement of the day just got the old bod going. I am sure after my 1 hour run/walk I will regret it in the morning.
So in summary: Spontaneity + 71 degrees overcast day + four willing participants + Pedals and Paint= THE PERFECT DAY!
