Earth is so delicious!

We are immersed in Astronomy this year and, as you can tell, we are learning about the home planet, Earth. We have traveled through the solar system beginning with the sun, journeying on to Mercury and Venus and now we have landed on Earth. Landing was not enough for these fine explorers so they decided to eat it. Today we declare all across this nation that it is, "Take a Bite Out of Earth Day!" Won't you celebrate our journey with us.

Rice Krispie Earth

1/4 cup margarine or butter
40 regular marshmallows
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
6 cups Rice Krispies
Green and Blue food coloring

Melt butter and marshmallows over medium heat in a large pot, stir in vanilla and rice krispies. Divide into two bowls. Add green coloring to one bowl and blue to the other (leave slightly more rice krispie mixture in the bowl you will color blue. The earth is more than 75% water after all.) Stir mixtures. Form mixtures into as many earths as you deem necessary. Set the balls aside until completely cool. (Cooling took about 2 minutes until my kids had dug in.)
