The Thompson Pets

Its hard to see them in this picture but we have added an assortment or ants to our classroom. Lets just hope they stay in their little enclosed farm. They really are fascinating to watch. We took some school time to study the anatomy of our new pets and then the kids named each one so here they are: (Andrew's names) Under Ant, Theo, Grounder, Digger, Mountain, Scaredy-Cat, Dare Devil, Buddie, Hungry, Tiger, Knocker. (Alora's names) Beautiful, Antabelle, Slide, Fred, Timmus, Tom, Eater, Shatin, Esterman, Lost, Digger Ant. That totals twenty-two! You may think its not possible to keep up with them, but the kids know who they are!
I couldn't write out about our new pets without writing about Cookie. Alora took this picture of her. Our precious dog is having a tough week because I threw out her couch. Yes, the dog had her own couch. It was a hand-me-down love seat that was kept for her but I spontaneously chunked it out--it was gross! Now she circles the living room unsure of what to do with herself. She has been reduced to a floor dog, how terrible of us! I mean, the shame of it all. I am going to get her a fluffy pillow as soon as possible.

I have really been noticing the little things God has given us to enjoy. A beautiful bird on my dogwood tree this morning, a beautiful sunset, all things God has blessed us with to enjoy. They are things that cause us to spontaneously worship, as one of the dear ladies from Bible study last night put it. We see a mountain and praise the Creator for what He has done. Maybe you wouldn't see much to praise God about ants--but we do! They are interesting creatures and we can even learn alot from them. Maybe you wouldn't see much to praise God about a dog that weighs 70 lbs, who was supposed to only weigh about 35, who licks your hands and lies on her own couch--but we do! We are thankful to God for all that He has given us and worship Him as Amazing Creator.
