What We Do For Our Friends

No, I have not changed my loyalties even though our football season has not worked out quite like we had hoped. It's Spencer's birthday and this cute little Alabama fan needed a cake to celebrate the day. So I laid my disdain for Alabama at the floor in front of the oven and proceeded to make him a cake that would make him smile. As you can tell, I am still quite the amateur, due to the not-so-exact circles. But I am figuring things out for the next time, if there be a next time that circle-making is needed. My biggest problem making cakes is that if it requires too much thought, I'm done. Free-hand or bust! Short and sweet or I'm out! What does this say about me? Apparently, it says I have no patience. However, I love making these little cakes; It is quite fun and theraputic. So, Happy Birthday, Spencer--WAR EAGLE, Baby!

i'm with you on the short & sweet free hand thing. i had to stop scrapbooking and switch to the order online books, because i can NOT cut a straight line to save my life!

i bet the more you do it the better your free-hand circles will get, besides i like a little imperfection in my cakes, makes it look like it was made w/ love :)

you are way sweeter that i could me. i had a good friend of mine do an auburn cake for xander's baby shower (auburn theme). however, her true tennessee pride lead her to create an orange T on the middle layer of the cake. it was truly priceless!!
