Don't Mess With Texas: Part Three

On Wednesday it was time to travel to Waco, Texas, where Jason, Jennifer and Hannah live. After seeing their beautiful home, we headed to Cameron Park for a Subway picnic dinner.
The kids had fun swinging and Jason did too.

Andrew attempted some aerial acrobatics that almost ripped him completely out of his clothing!

He popped up quickly and said, "That's gonna give me a headache." His shirt was ripped under each armpit. It is a wonder it didn't snatch his arms off!

We enjoyed some time just hanging out at the house talking and playing. Alora loved taking care of Hannah.

Each night we went to bed late! We talked and talked. Joey and Jason had many loud conversations about everything from the minimum theological understanding which constitutes orthodoxy to the possible metaphysical realities of the intermediate state to Auburn football. (Yeah, Joey wrote that sentence for me.) Jennifer and I would sit and listen to them for awhile. I would even chime in every once in a blue moon until my brain began to hurt. We would leave and begin discussing parenting, school and other fun topics.

Jason runs too! I was so happy because while I was in Gainesville we got up one morning and ran 5 miles and on Thursday, while in Waco, we got up and ran 6.3 miles from their house to Baylor's campus. It was tough but fun. We talked the entire time. You see, he's not just Joey's friend. He's my friend, too! We have shared many good times together and it was fun to have some time with him just sharing and catching up. It also helped get my mind off the fact that we were running so far! My left leg really began to hurt that day and it has continued to bother me since. Hey, no pain, no gain, right?

Across the street from their house, behind a fence is the Waco Mammoth Site. In the past few years the largest collection of mammoth remains was discovered. The museum that will be placed on the site is still under construction but we were able to go to the hands-on-science museum at Baylor and see what it is going to look like. They have a replica of what it will look like there. It is the coolest thing. The floor will be made of glass and people will be able to walk over and look through the glass at the remains, uncovered, but still on the ground where they were found! How cool is that!?!

WE just love science museums!

Of course, we had to have a picture of a Texas Longhorn!

Here, Joey is predicting the weather in Waco. He is a very serious weatherman.

This is, perhaps, my most favorite picture of Andrew of all time! I title this, "The Not-So-Serious Weatherman". We ate delicious BBQ for lunch, Italian chicken, made by Chef Jennifer, for dinner and rounded out the day with Baskin Robbin's ice cream for dessert that night. Mm Good!

And after a FABULOUS-O week, it was time to depart on Friday. Boys are so silly!

Jason was trying to give Joey some extra special lovin'!

And us girlies!

We had such a great time in Texas! No, we didn't see a whole lot of monuments or landmarks or famous sites but what we got to see was much more valuable. Texas is friends and great memories! Thank you, Jason and Jennifer for everything! We love you guys so much!

I am enjoying these Texas posts. It is nice to see old friends again.

Tell Joey that I really enjoyed his latest post too. (I can't comment over there.)

Love you both.
