Cookie Update

If you noticed the side of the blog, we have met goal number 1: Staples Removed! Yeah. Joey took Cookie back to Birmingham yesterday and had all 20 staples removed and she received her two week checkup. Everything looks good. You can barely even tell where the staples were.

She has assumed some normal duties such as guarding the front door.Even though she had a great visit at the vet, she must remain confined until her 6 week checkup. She can go on short 5-10 minute walks, on a tight leash, four-five times a day. Other than that, she must stay in a crate with limited walking space. Joey and I have tried to give her good accommodations by setting her crate in front of the bathroom. We moved all of our things out of the bathroom into the kids' bathroom but she has not appreciated this much.Cookie wants to be in close proximity to the family and being in the bathroom with us in the living room is just not getting it for her. She has whined and cried and beat the bars so much. I left her in there on Wednesday night so that I could go to church for the first time in two weeks. When we arrived home, she greeted us at the door. Houdini strikes again. She had worked and worked at pushing the crate with her body until she could squeeze out. What I learned is that, when I leave, she must be completely crated in with no walking room. Meanwhile, I am thinking about trying to get her cast in the next Mission Impossible movie--she is quite the escape artist, and I think any undercover spy team could use her skills! We are very excited about the new prescription that I will be going to pick up from the vet. Doggie-sedation medication! Thank the Lord! It should help things for us to give her medicine when we are leaving home so that she will not be so anxious while alone. What can I say, Cookie is our seperation anxiety baby that we love! With a face like that-How could you not love her?
