I am so behind on blogging that I feel that I will never catch up and so I am going to quit trying and actually blog about something current. I will get back to history later when I have the time. I am going to the beach tomorrow and I am very excited about it. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind as we have had the 4th of July and all of the things that we had going on then. The next week was the wedding and all of the cake decorating and this past week the kids and I went to West Virginia (which I will blog about later). We have been very busy. I have only been home for two days and I have managed to at least get the laundry done and take the kids swimming as well as do a little Old Navy shopping with the gift card I got from my grandfather and get new tires on the car before our little beach excursion. So i will take the time now to give a few updates.
Cookie Update:
Cookie had her six weeks checkup right after the wedding and got a great report. The doctor said she has really built back a lot of muscle mass in the leg and that she is walking very well. We can now walk her twice a day for 15 minutes and increase the amount we walk her each week. Joey has been taking her on these walks and, to tell you the truth, I do not know who enjoys the walks more- Joey or Cookie. The walks are good for the both of them! She also has lost five pounds, which the doctor advised, so we have, so far, done everything right. Whew! She will not go back to the doctor until August 24th, and then she will be released from their care. Yeah.
Running Update:
Leah and I have begun running a minimum of four miles as our short run. As of Monday, we are officially training for a half marathon. We are both very excited about this and have already begun looking to the fall for events in which we can participate. We are looking at a midnight 5K in August, and some other 5K and 10K events in our area in September and October. We are not sure if we will run the 1/2 marathon in November or in March, or April; we are still exploring and formulating a plan. Meanwhile we meet on the track as often as we can to increase our miles.
Homeschool Update:
It looks like we are going to plan to go back to school around August 17th, and by go back to school I mean head into our classroom in our house and get back to work. I have much planning to do and have already done much planning but I thoroughly plan to blog our decisions for curriculum soon, so stay tuned. We are very excited about a fresh new year of homeschooling.
