Cookie is Counting Down the Days!

With seven days left, Cookie is feeling good about her upcoming freedom. She has become friskier, more playful and even taken attitude. I promise that I heard her mouthing under her breath the other day, "When I get outta here I'm gonna..." with serious seventeen year old tone!
It's hard to believe that this all began on June 4th. It seemed like a lifetime away until we would be able to give Cookie her freedom back--Until we would get our own freedom back! Then, she was the uncrateable dog that would not submit to her owner's authority. Now, she crates herself. Then, she was in need of serious anxiety medicine. Now, she is cool, calm and collected. We took her off her meds weeks ago! Then, we would come home to be greeted by Houdini at the door. Now, we find her sleeping comfortably in her crate. Then, we would find poo and pee covering the crate. Now, she can hold it more and is even in a bathroom routine. She has really trained us well!

She has handled her captivity pretty good, only taking our her frustrations and energy on her own stuffed animal that she loves! She never chews up anything in the house except for that pen I threw at her the other day!

Yep, she is pretty much back to normal. Just this past week she even faked us out by making this fake puking noise. Joey opened the door and just let her go so she wouldn't get sick in the house. She tore out the door and trotted around the yard like a prisoner set free. (She never threw up) I think I even heard her say, "So long, Sucker!" while prancing away like an antelope. She is up to her old tricks and getting pumped up about Monday when we will sign her release papers and actually let her potty without being on a leash! How much freedom will she be gaining? This is a good question. I actually like the way things are now and we are going to continue to use the crate. She will be allowed into the back yard alone but not for extended amounts of time like days of old. But something tells me, as much as she will love to romp free and regain some independence, she will enjoy being our inside crating baby!
