Thursday was an exciting day because the Worthingtons came for a visit! We were very glad to have our friends come to see us for our annual August get-together. Thursday night we hung out having homemade spaghetti and strawberry cake while playing Rook, while the kiddos played and played and played.
Everybody had a great time just chillin.
Frances and I spent a good bit of time Friday night talking teacher to teacher. A "Meeting of the Educational Minds" if you will. We traded ideas about projects, curriculum, assignments and incentives. It is so great to hear what ideas other home school moms have and glean from their wisdom.
It is always good to get our kiddos together. They play together so great and I don't think they had one problem. They love to hear stories about when they were little and catch up on missed time together.

On Saturday morning, Bibi, came up to take Andrew on a cub scout canoe trip. With canoe strapped to the top, they were off for some grandfather-grandson bonding down the creek.
Also, on Saturday morning, we were up and headed to the ladies brunch at my church. My mom came with my dad, so she and Frances and I were headed for some girl fun. We had an awesome time talking about all that we see God doing in and around our church. We were challenged and encouraged as we met together just hearing from each other.
It is always a blessing to have Jay and Frances around. We sharpen each other as we talk for hours and hours. Joey and Jay got some guy time to just share life and Frances and I got some girl time. They challenge us in our walk with Christ and I am so thankful for the encouraging friendship that we share. We love you guys!
As Jay and Frances were leaving, it was on to my next project. I had a cake deadline of 4:45! Thank goodness, I had baked the cakes ahead of time. A dear friend was turning 50 and I was given the great privilege of making her cake. Her wonderful daughter chose to remind her of how youthful she really is by making her a lively sugary sweets cake. It was very fun to make (after you get passed the rolling of the fondant!). It was then dinner time but I am happy to tell you after a lovely dinner outside on our patio, I was in my jammies by 7 pm. What a weekend! What a blast!
