Because Andrew finished his Homer Price book and Alora finished Curious George we celebrated by making our very own homemade donuts. In both books there was a chapter that had to do with donuts and so we gave it a whirl. Check out those Krispy Kritters! mm...good!
Alora and Daddy were in charge of rolling and cutting them out. I was in charge of frying the donuts and Andrew was in charge of glaze. What were we thinking?
We had two projects today. Since we have been learning about the Mycenaens of Ancient Greece, we decided to try our hands at some pottery like they would have done it. Now I know that they did not have pottery wheels in 1250 BC but they also didn't have a Momo who bought us a pottery wheel for Andrew's birthday. We were very excited to try it out.
Look at the skillful artisans at work! I will post the results when we have finished letting them dry and paint them. Our Monday proved to be a fabulous start to the week with donuts and pottery and fabulous attitudes too! The day closed out with the family in the backyard bagging large mounds of hay that we had not had time to remove from the backyard the last time we mowed. We teamed up and bagged about 12 bags of hay! Andrew and Mommy also known as "Team Momdew" won the bagging race! "Team Aloraddy" attempted to claim a sneaky victory but when it came down to it--the stacked bags stacked in our favor! What I appreciated most was the diligence with which the kids worked and the awesomeness of the team work! Way to go! Oh! We also got tons of school work done! Yeah!

I'm the race fan in the family, and as a long-time race fan, I know very well that he who finishes first wins the race. So as team leader for Team Aloraddy I strategically planned to remain one bag behind. This way when the other team started on the last bag, we would be finishing with them having a whole empty bag to go. In my book, we beat them by a bag!
