The Vulcan 10K

Last Friday, Alora and I traveled to Pell City for the Vulcan 10K in Birmingham on Saturday. Joey and Andrew stayed back to attend a cubscout event where they retired 25 flags and had a weenie roast.

Dad and I headed to B'ham where we met my friend, Misty and her family. Misty and I have both been running over the past year and we had a blast hooking up to run our third race together.

Misty's daughter, Bailey also ran! She ran the kids 1 mile Fun Run and did a fabulous job.

Alora and Bailey have had a great time hanging out when we have gotten the girls together. I think Alora was inspired by Bailey because she wants to start her training for the next Fun Run.

I did not eat breakfast that morning but had coffee to get me going. Big Mistake! I was on empty by mile 3 and the only mile that really felt good was mile 4. I really struggled to keep going but finished in my fastest time of 1 hour and 9 seconds! Yeah! I had no idea how fast I was going because I totally would have pushed it to trim off that 9 seconds!

My legs were wobbly but felt great after chugging a propel drink.

I have really enjoyed running in events with friend, Brittney. She has been a big encouragement to me.

Misty, Cory and Bailey.

I was so happy to have my family come out and support me. We went for some serious pancake breakfast at The Original Pancake House in Five Points. Yummy...bacon, eggs and pancakes!

On our way home I had to snap this picture of my beautiful girl child in front of a very cool fountain. She was so great to want to come and support her Mommy and I cherish the special "girl time" we get. What a great race, What great time with friends, What great time with my family! Awesome--What race are we gonna run next?
