Well, Brittney has gone and done it again---motivated me to something. But this time its not in the area of running but the area of CLEANING! I am officially part of the Cleaning Blog Along. Fun and Challenging. I love Accountability! So here it goes!
I started in the kitchen. The kitchen is just one of the places that is a "catch all" for clutter. But more than clutter this time, was the filth. I should have take a picture of my feet from just walking around in the house! Dirty, Dirty, Dirty!

A long time ago I subscribed to an email group called "The Fly Lady". It was free and it was great for giving a systematic approach for cleaning. It really helped me to keep my house clean but one of the first things "The Fly Lady" says to do, especially if your house is overwhelming in "dump" department, is clean your sink first. It really does give you a burst of "alright something is clean!" Woo Hoo!

What is her sink cleaning technique? Load the dishwasher or wash the dishes by hand and then fill the sink with hot water and pour in bleach too. I don't know how much bleach to add I just kindof pour til I feel like that is right. Then you let it sit---Maybe about 30 minutes. Let the water go down and dry the sink out with a towel. VOILA!
Next was the oven. Confession #1- I have never cleaned out the oven before! My mother comes to town and every once in a while she will open the oven and clean it out. Thanks Mom! I think I have a mental block about it! So, I decided to overcome and spray the stuff in and let it sit. The spray said two hours--no heat! Well, I sprayed and then walked away to finish the other parts of the kitchen. As I blog this morning I have just realized I never went back to it! Oops. Guess I need to take care of that before I make the kid's cinnamon rolls : ) I also cleaned those stove top thingys! Hate those too!

I dont know if you have an electric stove, but if you do with the burners--a tip my mom gave me was to wrap the foil around the burner catchers ( I dont know what you call them). It helps because they are so frustrating to clean--that way when they get really dirty you just pull the foil off and voila they are clean. I am actually re-foiling them today. :P
Brooke, I love "Fly Lady". I don't follow her every day but when I really need to get things back together and cleaned, I look her up and read her blog. The cleaning of the kitchen sink first thing in the morning really perks me up and gets me motivated to do more cleaning. You amaze me with all you are able to accomplish!
