Frosty Freeze

Last Saturday morning we woke up to snow! I couldn't believe my eyes! This just doesn't happen very often and the kids quickly threw on their gear and headed out to play. I threw on my gear too, because it was RACE day! Yep, what do I do on frigid mornings? Go Run!

The Frosty Freeze is the first 5K I had ever heard of, way back in January when I began all of my running craziness. So I really wanted to run it this year.

It was a rather perilous journey to the race, which was about 30 minutes away. A car coming the opposite direction from me spun out and landed in my lane in front of me on the Hwy and I passes a multi-car accident. I also slid three times in my own car. But, I would not be deterred. Why? Because Leah and I are crazy--that's why!
This was also a monumental race for me because it would be the first one without my glasses--YEAH!!! It felt very nice not to have them on but I was having some difficulty seeing, which I chalked up to the newness of them and the cold air. I hate running in the cold but I did discover that I run better in the cold. Something about that cold air made me run my fastest time yet, coming in under 28 minutes! It felt good.

Julie also ran this race. She was awesome, finishing first in her age group!

Leah and Julie received medals for their age groups. Way to go, Girls!!!
I finished 5th in mine--no medal, but I am a determined woman. I immediately headed off to Robotics as soon as the race was over and then headed to my mom's house for a visit 2 hours away. On the way home, my contacts were really bothering me and so I pulled over to get them out. It turns out--the right one--never made it to my eye and I ran that entire race --A Cylcops! My poor contact was sitting next to the sink meeting its death. And me? Well lets just say, I felt pretty stupid. I called Joey for sympathy and all I got was, "You couldn't tell the contact wasn't in your eye? Yeah, yeah--Whatever! I didn't get a new one until Tuesday and so I have had to start all over again. It's a miracle if the things ever get in my eyes. They fall to the sink multiple times before they reach my eyes. I hate failing miserably at something but again I am a determined woman and I will conquer the contacts!
We had a busy weekend but it was a blast.
