Memorial Day Weekend would mark the last 5K for me for a while (but I will get to that later), and the first wet one. Eden Westside Baptist Church in Pell City, AL hosted the Revelation Run 5K and it was a hometown blast! It was wet, but you can ask any runner, this is not a deterrent. Lightning maybe but a gullywasher, nope. It was fun. Race began at 8:00 am and this one was a family affair.

Misty and I started the race together. The course was flat and fast running through neighborhoods with very little inclines if any. Perfect. The weather was cool and cloudy and sometimes wet. Almost Perfect.

It was a family affair, I tell you, and that is what makes it fun. Check us out! Neices- Abby, Alyssa and Ashley, great neice, Little Addie (who is still cooking in the oven, Ashley's belly), Sister-in-law Angie and Mother-in-law, Meemaw. What a group!

I think I was trying to get some of the water out of Meemaw's hair!

Way to go, Ashley. I think she definitely deserves a medal for walking for two!

We interrupt this race to bring you-sheer, pure beauty! It is not this often you can get this close to a person's face with a camera. I have decided to lock her up til she is 30!

We are so proud of Angie! She placed 2nd in her age division. Woo hoo! This girl has fought off injuries and lost a gob of weight! She is a machine and she looks fabulous! Way to go, Angie!

My time for this 5K was 28:55,which is actually pretty right on target for me, but this will be my last for a while. Months ago when I ran the Talladega 21000 I ran despite an injury-dumb! I have struggled off and on over the past months to recover but to no avail. In fact, it has gotten worse, moving from hip and knee pain to neck and back and shoulder pain. It actually felt good to run the race but afterward is a whole nother story! I began to go down hill rapidly and by Monday, Memorial Day-I was in so much pain, I thought I was done for! After lying on the floor most of the day, a precious friend called and recommended I see her chiropractor, who happened to be open on Memorial Day. He saw me that afternoon and I felt immediate relief from the adjustment. My pelvis was a full inch higher on one side where it was out of place! Also, the vertebrae in my neck were also out of place and there was little space btwn some of them. No wonder! The xray looked yucky! He asked me not to run for a few weeks while he got everything back in place and NO HEAVY LIFTING. He told me that if I would behave, I would recover quickly. He must have sensed my rebelliousness! I am behaving because I figure two-three weeks of no running is worth it if he can help me to run pain free. We shall see.

Look at this chic! I love her and I am so excited about every race we run together! We are having a blast laughing at ourselves, and laughing at each other. So fun!

Our little men-when did they get som big?!? Lovin' these days of hanging out with family and friends and being crazy.
Until next time and there will be a next time!
