Happy Birthday, Andrew! 11!

I have been hot and heavy with the pictures lately and I know that I have deviated away from my schedule, but there has been so much going on and then my internet wasn't working and I got way behind. So, bear with me, while I overload on pictures and family events right now in an effort to share what has been going on with us and I promise I will be back on schedule next week. MY BABY TURNED 11! On Monday, August 2nd, we celebrated 11 years of Andrew. I can remember the day he was born like it was yesterday and look at him now! Tall and lean.
He is just about as tall as Meemaw, we discovered. The weekend that I got back from Maine, we had a big Birthday party for all those on Joey's side of the family who have birthdays between July and September, mainly because that is pretty much everybody, minus a few VIPs like David, Kayla, Meemaw and Poppie. We all got together at Angie and Kenny's house and had a smashing good time grilling out and catching up. Of course, I forget my camera from time to time and seeing as how we took Mom's camera to Maine, I didn't have mine and took no pictures of the event. But trust me, everybody looked great and we had a blast! That is when we discovered how tall our 11 year old is! He has been so excited about his birthday. It might be because of the pretty hearty birthday list he had this year. How come as they get older their presents get a LOT more expensive! Can I get a hearty AMEN on that one? Geez! Well, he didn't get everything on his list but he had a Fab-u-loso good time.
The festivities began with Alora playing, "Happy Birthday" on the keyboard. She had talked to her piano teacher about it and Ms. Judy (we love her so much) taught her how to play it just in time. Alora practiced all week and it was BEAUTIFUL and SPECIAL. Great job, girl!

Can you believe I didn't make the cake this year? He wanted something different and after all the traveling, I was thankful. Okay, so lets critique for just a moment shall we?
1. Its a cookie cake! If you have ever had one you know that you don't buy these for the way they look but for the incredible taste! This cake was dee lish ous!
2. I ordered a 16in. round and Joey picked up the cake and it was the biggest cake i have ever seen! Not quite what i ordered. Probably feeds 75! Due to the dieting going on in the family as of late, i had to send some with Joey to work, some home with Spencer, some with Jason and Traci and some with David and Nicole! However, the price was good, alot of cake for your money!
3. The cake looks nice and neat (handwriting on store bought cakes always drives me nuts, but they did a good job) but if you are a Star Wars fan, you know that those are not LIGHTSABERS, those are colored swords!
All in all, the cake was great, minus a few details.

11 Candles and I spread them out all across the cake.
His lungs are good!

BIBI!

MIMI!

Alora gave Andrew silly string for his birthday. She used her last four dollars to get it!
A BIG HUG was in order!
I treasure those moments!

Spencer gave Andrew, Super Mario mushroom slippers (see top picture)!
They were awesome!

To get the big presents we have to chip in together and that is what we did.
Andrew got the LEGO DEATH STAR!
3,803 pieces!
He has been eyeballing this BIG Badboy for over a year and dreaming about the day he would construct it!
He was so excited!

UNC AND AUNT NICOLE!

MOMO!

The instuction book that came with the DEATH STAR was THICK!

To properly construct and not lose thousands of pieces along the way, he had to come up with a construction plan. We laid down a flat table top on the floor and each box containing legos was stacked up in numerical order. It is a BIG project, but I am here to tell you that Andrew is up for the challenge and wanted to start immediately.
I have taken pictures of his progress each day and I plan to share the "Making of the Death Star" in an upcoming blog soon. I will tell you this- What should have taken him months to put together is not taking him months. That is all I will say at this point. You can see for yourself soon. : )

A full day of fun, and family and LEGOs!
Of course, we stayed up until 10 pm so that we could properly celebrate his coming forth into the world.
(or being cut out, and pulled forth into the world, which ever you want to say)
Anyway you look at it, he is here, thank You, Jesus, and I treasure each day I have with him.
Andrew Thompson- We love you so very much!
Happy Birthday!
