Nashville: Business and Pleasure

I got back from Maine on Saturday at about 2 am and on Sunday afternoon, Joey left for Nashville. He had training there for his job for the week. The kids and I stayed home due to physical therapy and unpacking but we were set to join him on Wednesday. For Joey it was business but for us it would be pleasure. Even though he had to work during the day, we gave him some spice to his evenings. The kids were so excited about staying in a hotel room and swimming in the hotel pool!
Being in Nashville, we had to take in some history. We studied Greek mythology last year and Ancient Greece and Rome and so we had to check out the Parthenon. In Nashville, there is a full scale replica of the ancient temple and it was really cool to go and check it out.

Check out that picture! The weather was amazing and the sky gave a perfect backdrop!

Inside the Parthenon is a museum complete with ginormous statue of Athena holding Nike. Also in the museum is a great art gallery and ancient greek exhibit.

We loved looking at all of the statues but the kids were really taken aback by all of the, and I quote, "nakedness". Andrew averted his eyes frequently from the many scantily clad statues. I assured him that the sculptors didn't mean to offend with their portrayal of naked gods.

The Great Bronze Doors! What do you do when you come across a set of giant doors with a lion's head in the middle?

Stick your hand in it's mouth is what we do! Just to see if he might eat you.
Turns out- He will! : )

The grounds outside the Parthenon are beautiful but it was a little too hot to enjoy them for long.

Later on we drove around the city and snapped this picture of the capital building. Gorgeous!
We actually tried to go to Opry Mills mall before realizing they were closed due to all of the flooding that occured in May. It is crazy to see the pictures of the flood and how much the city has repaired.

We could not make a trip to Nashville without checking out the Adventures in Science Center.
It was a blast!
Alora found a piano just her size that she can play with her feet!
Andrew's favorite thing is the water works.

This was a great hands on museum with so much to climb on and explore.

Alora is a great shot when trying to feed a giant mouth!

Look at the crazy germs!

You don't want to know what Andrew was accomplishing with this game!?!

Battle of the Minds!

We climbed all the way to the top of a tower to check out a great view of the city! The whole place was awesome and we had hours of fun! We also checked out an Imax video on the 7 Wonders of the World- which we loved. We had so much fun learning that the kids didn't even know we were having a school day! HA! Day 1- A Field Trip!
We had a blast hanging out in Nashville for two days with Joey, eating out dinner when he got out of his conference and making runs each night to Krispy Kreme. The kids love watching the "birth of a donut" as they call it. Joey and I split a Donut sundae one night! It was awesome! Ice cream and KK donuts! Crazy good and totally not on the diet. I had to repent from that one.
We had fun and we are so thankful for family trips!
