It was a gorgeous day to head out to infamous Sleepy Hollow, NY.
And the right month for sure!

In the cemetery in Sleepy Hollow lies Washington Irving, the author of the classic story of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman.

We played in the cemetery most of the morning, taking in the view of fall trees and intersting tombstones.

We found this headstone and just had to take the pic!
Poor Ichabod.

The area was inhabited by Reformed Dutch in 1687. This little town is rich in history and tradition.

We walked along a wooded path headed for the perfect spot to read the classic story by Mr. Irving.

Amanda and her friends each took turns telling the tale as we sat beside the babbling brook. Also, happening alongside the brook, just on the other side, was a horror movie, complete with ghoul in chains and screaming girls dieing horrible deaths of stabbing and such. While one of the girls was reading, I looked across the brook as the ghoul dressed in chains and carrying a huge machete, waved and smiled at me. What is a girl to do? I smiled back : ) Only in Sleepy Hollow!

Goofin' with my BFF.

Right at the center of town-just what you would expect. We had a lovely lunch at the Headless Horseman Cafe and then proceeded toward the town square for some browsing and such.

Lovin' the architecture.

AHHHHHHHHH!

We did a lot of walking and then found a lovely park bench alongside the water. I took a nap and even caught myself snoring.

A beautiful lighthouse view from my bench.

We ended the evening with a hometown parade complete with You-know-who.

Finally, we took a few minutes on the way back to the car to do some sliding on the fastest slide I have ever been on in my life. This little adventure was completed with much laughter and a head injury, with some nausea to follow. All in a spectacular fall day in Sleepy Hollow.
After getting back to Amanda's apartment we were off to try and get tickets to Promises, Promises only to be denied tickets again.
Will we ever get to see the show???
