I was recently quoted as saying, "It's crazy when you have to go to New York City to escape your busy life!" But that is exactly what I did, and since I arrived back in the grand old state of Alabama, it has been back to the craziness. I have been dying to write all about my trip and just haven't had the time to put it all down.

I have never been to NYC and I was so excited about seeing and experiencing the city but most importantly about being with Amanda. It was so good to hang out with her. I had only seen the city from the air so she kept me underground on the subway until we popped out right in the middle of Times Square-at night! Quite awesome, if I do say so myself. I just wanted to walk and walk and take it all in and that is what we would do-for four full days. I cannot believe how my neck felt the whole time I was there-Great! and it is still pain free even now-I think I have turned a corner.

Okay so, Thursday was Day 1, and we left at about 9am not to return to her apt. until nighttime. We took the Statton Island Ferry to get a great view of the Statue of Liberty, that was a must, and it was free. I really didnt have any desire to go and stand in line for 1/2 the day to go up in the statue. Seeing her from the ferry was fab.

It was a bit breezy and cool that first day but the rest of the time the weather was incredible, teetering btwn the high 60's and high 70's. It was perfect.

There she is in all her glory!

And there's the ferry.

We spent alot of time poking around in Times Square, it seems that everywhere we were trying to go we would pass the center of the square so I got pretty familiar with it. I had to take this pic for my chocolate lovin' kids and husband. So fun!

I had really only a few requests about my time in NYC and the rest was up to Amanda. At the tops of my list was BROADWAY. I love the shows and really wanted to take in the sights and sounds and entertainment of Broadway. We kept trying to get 1/2 price tickets but to no avail until Sunday- right before I left on Monday- whew! We really wanted to see Promises Promises with Sean Hayes because a friend of Amanda's was in the show. Amanda had already seen it-twice, and really wanted me to see the show because it was Awesome.

Even though we didnt get to see the show until Sunday, we did go the the stage door the first night I was in town and we saw the charming and kind Sean Hayes up close and personal (No, I do not mean on this sign : )) and we also got to see Tony Goldwyn and meet her friend Sarah Jane to walk her to the train. First impressions of Sean Hayes--he is the nicest guy ever, and I wish he were straight, What a great looking guy! My camera was charging when we went to the stage door and I missed my photo op but I did take a picture of Tony Goldwyn (the bad guy on the movie, Ghost) with a tourist. Rats! Can't believe I didn't have my camera but that is ok, my Day of Reckoning would come Sunday.

Amanda lives two blocks from Times Square-Crazy huh? I come and stay for four days and think how fun but she lives it each and every day. The romanticized NYC left a long time ago and the grossness of it all is sometimes, ok many times overwhelming to her. So, we both wanted to spend this four days looking at everything through new eyes, like a tourist. For me, that wouldn't be hard, EVERYTHING WAS NEW, but she walked with me, talked to me about everything and also was able to see the city through new eyes. I am not saying that she now sees the wonders of NYC and embraces them with loving arms but it was refreshing to just take a break from the busyness that is her life and just look at things with newness.

The days were packed and I will forget to tell about so much but I at least wanted to get these blogs rolling because it has been almost two weeks since my return.

So I hope you enjoy the pictures and the random blogging for the next few days about my awesome trip to NYC!
