Merry Thriftmas! This year in the Thompson family our Christmas giving to each other was centered around a theme--Thriftiness.
Last year we began getting creative with our usual name drawing for gift giving. The rule was that you had to make all the gifts. Fun! This year all gift were either from the Thrift Store, or passed down items etc. It was really fun. Each year there are always some interpretation changes in the rules but that is what makes it fun too.

We spent the whole day with MeeMaw and Poppie, which is what its really all about anyway--spending time together.
There were tons of goodies to munch...
fabulous gifts...
happy children...
And babies!!!
It was Addelyne and Emerson's first Christmas and it was so fun to see them all dolled up in their Christmas best and enjoying the time with family.
Five years ago we all put things into a time capsule and this year was the year to open it. The kids were really excited to get their toys out that they had placed inside. Most of us forgot what had gone into the capsule. To be honest, it was bitter sweet for Joey and me this year. It is interesting to look back at what was important to you five years ago and see how things have changed. What we discovered as a couple, is that LOTS has changed. Struggles, events, decisions--LIFE things that have grown us up quickly, challenged us, and transformed us for the good. This is an interesting season for Joey and I to say the least, and the time capsule reminded us of where we have come from. Sometimes it is hard to look back, but the reason we study History is to learn from it as we move into the future.
Thank you Meemaw and Poppie--for awesome time with family and avenues of remembrance and reflection as we meet. : )
Merry Thriftmas!
