Each year for the past few years, our family has participated in Operation Christmas Child in some way. Either we pack a shoebox or we have even picked what we wanted to give money to and raised money to give. This year we had a very unique experience. On the tail end of our Disney trip, we were able to go to Atlanta and stay with our friends, Jay and Frances, and go to the Warehouse!
So this year the kids used their own money and packed their shoeboxes before we went to Disney. We filled out our information sheets on the road as a "car time" activity and headed to Atlanta on our way home from Orlando.
It was awesome!
We did relays to learn about what to pack and not to pack in the shoeboxes.
We learned about how the shoeboxes get where they are going.
We wrote encouraging notes to missionaries on the field sharing the love of Jesus on foreign soil.
Andrew running the relay.
We learned about Haiti and relief efforts there.
The kids learned a ton about what is happening in Haiti.
It was awesome to be a part of what Samaritan's Purse is doing overseas and it really helped the kids to know how to pray and participate in the future.
Seeing how the assembly line works.
After spending the morning at the warehouse, the Baughns, the Worthingtons and the Thompsons headed to Stone Mountain. I love these girls!
We spent the rest of the day and evening at Stone Mountain Christmas.
The Baughns
A rickety train ride, 3D movie, the best hot chocolate ever, the shortest parade ever, very fun shows and Christmas lights.
What a great time with friends!
