Strawberry Pickin'

The Saturday before Easter we had the awesome opportunity to go with new friends to pick strawberries at a strawberry farm with new friends.
They have two girls, both close to Alora's age and she was in hog heaven with her three favorite things all in one day- 1. Family 2. Girls 3. STRAWBERRIES
Oh, the strawberry delight she would make!
I have never picked strawberries right off the plant so this was a special treat.  At this farm, we could eat the strawberries right off the stem because they were completely organic and no pesticides were used any where near these little gems.
It was a beautiful day and the strawberries were bountiful.  I have never eaten a strawberry fresh  from the farm but let me tell you, great emphasis---THEY ARE FABULOUS!  We all agreed-strawberries in the grocery store taste like water compared the sweet goodness dripping from these berries.  They were awesome!
We didn't have to even hunt them down--they were everywhere.  We were all finished in about thirty minutes having collected two gallons of fresh strawberries.
The kids had strawberry juice running down their faces and big stains on their clothes--But we sooooo didn't care.  They were the good kind of stains, that scream "family fun times and memory makers".
After one trip-- we are hooked! We are going to do this every year!

So, what did we do with our yummy strawberries?  Did I make jams, pies, cakes? No! We ate them straight from the buckets!  2 gallons!  Alora made strawberry delight and I made a bit of icing but the rest---Straight from the bucket and that is the way we like it.
Thanks to the Fitts for a smashing good time.  Strawberry Pickin' is our top pick for Spring activities.  Find a good, organic farm near you--you won't regret it.
