The Duck and Run

Duck and Run, funny name isn't it? But that is what they call the local annual 5K. Thank goodness there wasn't any reason to duck while I ran.
The race began at 8 am and Joey stayed home with the kids this time. My friend, Traci ,came with me this time to be my cheerleader and what a fabulous cheerleader she was. She is behind all of the photos. I can't believe we didn't take any together!
I have not been a consistent running schedule in quite some time so I wasn't sure how I would do. Some of my friends, Pete and Beth, were also participating in the run so at least I would know some people. Leah, had to be away, out of town, and so I would go it alone.
I couldn't believe it---I finished in 28:36! That is an all time best! The run was scenic and there were only about 115 racers so not a lot of runner traffic.
I got a cute tshirt with a duck on it and met some really nice people. I just love the runner community! I might have even peeked Traci's interest a little. She really had a good time. Who knows maybe she will start running with us too. Next up on the runner schedule is a possible 10K in Gulf Shores on the 10th of October and I am definitely signed up and running the Liz Hurley Ribbon Run 5K on the 17th. My mother in law, sister in law and dear friend from high school, Misty, are also participating in the 5K, as well as my friend and partner, Leah. Can't wait!
