Faucet Fiasco!!!

Looks harmless doesn't it? This simple faucet may look like nothing important but, my, how it changed our plans. We have been attacking some major home repairs lately and on Thursday it was time to pressure wash. There were two hoses lying under the spicket and I thought I had a lot more slack in the hose than I did when I pulled it. The entire faucet and the pipe connected came out when I pulled. Wow! Way to go, Wonder Woman. We were laughing until we realized that I broke the pipe and our garage was quickly getting soaked on the inside! Joey dashed to the road and turned the water off then headed out to the Lowe's to get the supplies to patch the pipe. By 7:30 pm the pipe was repaired and the day was finally coming to a close--we thought.

At 3:00 am Joey woke up hot and headed to the kitchen to get a drink of water when he heard the river flowing under our house. The pipe fix had not held and our house was quickly making an indoor pool underneath! Joey dashed to the road and turned off the water. We sat in silence for about 2 minutes in the living room processing through the problem when we realized that it was very warm. Upon checking the air conditioner, we discovered that our central unit was not working! Double whammy!! Joey and I decided to repair the pipe then and so back under the house he went. Did I mention it was 3:30am? After repairing the pipe again, we put the kids in our room with the ceiling fan on and we slept in the living room where the other ceiling fans are located. Tough night.

The next morning was a warm one, of course, but the air conditioning repair men came quickly. We actually had a good day of school under the warm conditions. Andrew sucked on an ice pack, we hooked up the fan and Alora ate ice while we worked. I was so proud of them for hanging in with me while our home heated up. I kept thinking about people who don't have air conditioning and what sissies we are here in our spoiled home. About 11:30, Andrew went to turn on the faucet and alas, the pipe had broke again! We dashed to the road and turned off the water again.

Joey went back to Lowe's and consulted with them and thankfully discovered the problem. He and Andrew headed back under the house for what would be our final fix (so far, fingers crossed). So the air conditioning was repaired, the pipe was repaired, and amazingly our atttitudes have not needed a repair. I mean, really, it's quite comical when you tell it.

Joey trimmed a hedge and then we were done. We believe that it was a "God-send" that the air went out or we would not have discovered the broken pipe and we could have had MAJOR damage when we woke up! A friend came to baby sit shortly afterward and we went out on a date. Thank you, Teashea!!! It was a blessing to be able to have some date time with my hubby after everything that has occurred. We had delicious Tex-Mex, cruised Barnes and Nobles and went to Publix before returning home and it was great! After everything, we have decided to cease with the repairs and fix ups and just rest! After two weeks of intense home fixing up--the rest is much needed.
