Cleaning Challenge: Day Four-The Master

Day Four- As I have cleaned up the last few days on our little cleaning challenge, I was trying to think of some tips I could give. I don't know if anybody already does these things but I will lay them out there any way because I always love reading other peoples ideas.

1. I always load the dishwasher at night and empty it first thing in the am.

2. Never leave dishes in the sink at night. (Not a good am greeting)

3. One load of laundry a day. Same principle as above. (However, some busy weeks constitute an entire day of catch up for me)

4. Before moving to a different room this week, I have gone back and checked the rooms I already cleaned for a touch up. This is quick and reassures me that things are not getting destroyed while my focus is elsewhere.

5. The kids chore charts have greatly improved things around here. They learn what it takes to keep the house clean and are a little more thoughtful as they live and play in our home. They are much more aware of their surroundings if I make them stop something they are doing to come and clean up a mess they have made rather than me just clean it up myself. Consistency reaps many rewards later.

6. Don't go crazy with the cleaning. I used to be crazy about keeping the house spotless. I wasted a lot of time keeping order. There is a balance that the Proverbs 31 woman has and I had to find it. I still get out of whack but I am nowhere near the controlling cleaning woman of old. God had to break me and I can walk past and ignore far more than I used to. Order is not always Spotless.

Well it was time to attack the room where no toys are allowed. The room I can only blame myself for--my bedroom. As you can see, I piled a lot of things in here as I was cleaning.

This is the dustiest room and so even though it looks nice and polished, I know it will be short-lived. Still I do it for that first polished look.

Messy, Messy!

Much better.

I removed six glasses from around our bedroom--all filled with water! I am having flashbacks to the movie "Signs". (Hmmm...maybe I should have left them in case a savage alien attacks and we will need to extinguish him. There has to be another way.)

Things have just been piling up around here. Notice the guitar in the corner. I leave it out so that one day I will pass it by and think, "Today is the day!" And I will start playing it again; I do miss it but just can't see how that fits into the day. For now I will continue to just dust its case.

Beautiful, Wide open space! That is the way we like it!
Last but not least--the CLOSET! We have always enjoyed the closet because it is spacious but more space equals more STUFF!
Day Four Down--Tomorrow--Andrew's room! DUN DUN DUN DUN!
