Mercedes-Benz Marathon Weekend!!!

Our BIG running weekend arrived with the snow and ice. I was so excited coming into this weekend that I could barely stand it. I just love the whole atmosphere. I love walking in to the expo. I love standing in line to get my racing number. I love to see my timing chip in the bag. I love to check out my new shirt!

On Friday when I went to pick up my race bag, I ran into this girl with a hat that I just LOVED! That is so my motto!

Misty, Dad and I took the Hummer to Birmingham early Saturday morning knowing that the ice and snow were going to make for treacherous road conditions. We did see a crash on an overpass on the way there.
It was a crisp 27 degrees at the start of the 5K race and that would be why Misty and I look the newest members of the Alabama bob sled team, dressed in scarves, fleece bands, and fleece jackets concealing about three layers under that!

There were hundreds of runners there to participate and Misty and I arrived with just enough time to run from the car to the START line. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Time to go! We did not have any time to think about the cold.
There were all kinds of runners in all kinds of outfits.

30 minutes later, we were headed for the finish.

I finished in 29:58, just under 30 minutes.

Misty was hot on my heels finishing in an all-time personal best!
Way to go, Girl!

We CAME, We RAN, We CONQUERED. Okay, maybe we didn't conquer but we did have a whole lot of fun.
Next up...some R&R and then 13.1 miles the next morning.
