Crossing Over

Last Friday night was a huge night for Andrew. It was his last night of cub scouts. Andrew has been a cub scout since he was in the first grade and now it is time to cross over into boy scouts. Where did the time go?

We started the night with the pledge of allegiance and cub scout pledges then it was time for some games.

There was everything from pie your scout master...

to tug of war.

Meemaw and Poppie were able to make it for Andrew's big night,
as well as,

Mimi, Bibi, Unc and Nicole.
It was so good to have everybody come out and support Andrew on his big night.

We had a great meal together just talking and laughing. Andrew had so much to share with his grandparents. It was awesome to have them all there with us.

We were able to sit with good friends, Tobias, Shaquana and Eddie. Andrew and Tobias have been in scouts together for about 3 years and have played Upward basketball together for about 5! We have spent much time with Shaquana and Eddie cheering our boys on!

Andrew worked hard this year and earned 20 activity pins plus the highest achievement in cub scouts, the Arrow of Light.
We are so proud of all of his hard work. I was able to pin all of his pins on during the ceremony.

After all of the games, a hot dog eating contest, a corn eating contest, and many awards given to cub scouts it was time for the bridging ceremony from cub scout to boy scout. It is pretty cool! We actually walked across a bridge symbolizing his crossing over into Boy Scouts.

At the conclusion of the 4 hour event evening, we said the Boy Scout pledge and then were able to meet his new Scout Master. We are very excited about all that this new phase will bring us.

Tonight was his first night of Boy Scouts and he had a blast already. I could already hear a hint of new found independence and maturity in his voice as he shared about all they did. My little man is growing up, and I shall treasure all these things in my heart.
We are so proud of you, Andrew!
