Alcatraz!

Wednesday morning I woke up and headed out for a run, this time by myself. The sun was shining and all of San Francisco was awake in all its glory.

Headphones in, running skirt on, and Garmin watch set--I was off to run the city.

I ran down Market Street and then headed to the coast.

I mean, seriously, this is my running route! I could not get over it!

I ran right past the San Francisco Giants stadium and the Willie Mays entrance. Pretty cool stuff. The run was only about 3.5 miles but what a great taste of the city.
In the afternoon, we were headed for Alcatraz by ferry boat.

Mimi was ready for the Pen!

Inside, we learned about the hardened criminals who did time in Alcatraz and their attempts at escape.

Shower anyone?

See ya, Mimi! Have a nice life.

I do not feel I would fare well in solitary confinement.

This is a lighthouse on the island. Can you believe the weather?
Amazing!

It was windy but the sun was shining and the skies were clear-A definite gift from God!

Rows and rows of cells.

These gulls make their homes all over Alcatraz. Beautiful!

We spent most of the day at Alcatraz taking in the history and the gorgeous scenery. After a day out in the sun, Mom and I headed toward the hotel and had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen and then it was off for an earlier bedtime. It was a glorious day spent with my mom.
